Ajami

I saw the cover of this Arabic movie DVD as 'Almost as good as Cidade de Deus' and picked it from the library shelf. But I was not impressed. A heavily complicated, intricate web of events, and added to that, the director weaves the scenes back and forth in time and it gets hard to understand what scene actually occurs at what time. Plus, there are innumerous scenes which are absolutely unnecessary to the crux of the story. I saw the movie twice to understand and still there were some parts which remain mystery. Got a headache, not impressed. But the story is good and uses the same classic 'great-movie' technique of unconnected lives connecting at a certain point in time. If only the movie was directed and edited well with a good narration...
Rating: Average

PS: After a long, long time, did a back-to-back movie marathon.
